What your eye color says about your health

I began getting into analyzing eyes about five or so years ago when I learned about Iridology. Iridology is the study of the iris. As iridologists, we look at the color, markings and structure of the iris and are able to understand information about a person’s health and sometimes personality. We can also see where there is weakness in the body, which bodily systems need support and where there might be inflammation. It is not meant to treat or diagnose any conditions and while some may say this is a very “quack” type of health study, I will say that the majority of my findings with clients have been pretty accurate. Many of the findings are based upon inherited predispositions and genetics that can go back to parents, grandparents or even great grandparents.

There is a lot more to Iridology than just eye color, which we call “constitutions” but for this blog post we will start with the basics. In iridology there are just THREE eye colors or constitutions. That can seem pretty basic when you consider that every single person’s eyes are unique, similar to fingerprints. The three are Lymphatic Blue, Hematogenic Brown and Mixed Biliary, which would be hazel (examples below!). Various colors can show up in the iris like yellow, orange and even super white fibers that can change the appearance to look like they are green or even gray but with a closer look I can see that they are lymphatic blue or mixed. There are also subtypes and a lot more layers but again, just keeping it simple today!

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Let’s talk about the three constitutions starting with Lymphatic Blue.

The primary bodily system that needs nurturing is…you’ve guessed it…the LYMPHATIC system. Early in life these types do not experience too many health issues. If they do, it usually is regarding the mucous membranes in the ear, nose and throat. There is a strong disposition to allergies and swollen glands, often due to slow lymphatic movement. Also asthma can be common, as well as itchy skin conditions such as eczema. hives and acne. Diaper rash or red cheeks in babies could indicate a wheat or dairy allergy.

In adults…people with lymphatic irises tend to also have issues within the mucous membranes in ears, nose and throat. They have overreactive immune systems that produce allergic reactions such a chronic eczema and dermatitis. They can have issues with the upper and lower respiratory systems resulting in asthma, sinusitis or bronchitis. There tends to be lymphatic stagnation and fluid retention in these types. Fluid retention is common and often leads to depleted energy levels and poor circulation. Issues in the musculoskeletal system such as arthritis can be prevalent, especially showing up later in life. When in balance, agreeable, grounded and highly perceptive. They love to bring people together, but may experience insecurities about social material or dynamics. Some of their emotional issues are tied to their health or skin conditions -- for example itching skin may be related to someone “getting under their skin”

Hematogenic Brown
The main point of nurturing for Hematogenic brown irises is blood and digestion, hence Hematogenic. Truth be told, I find them more difficult to read since they are usually very dark and monochromatic. In order for me to read them, I need to have VERY clear images.  However, when there are significant markings they can be spotted easily and addressed. This type is really all about the blood circulation and digestion. Personality wise, Hematogenic irises are emotional, high strung, and occasionally impulsive individuals who are not afraid to state their opinion. They are passionate and highly value family bonds

There are not many complaints early in life, but it is key to keep an eye on health and nutrition since they are susceptible towards diabetes. There also can be a sensitivity to cow’s milk in these iris types from an early age.

In adults, gastrointestinal such as IBS, dyspepsia, and constipation are prevalent. These stomach issues and sluggish bowels can cause an abundance of toxins to stay within the body. Faulty metabolism can impact their gall bladders, heart and liver. They may experience issues such as varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and spider veins. If skin issues appear, it is usually the liver that needs support. High cholesterol becomes prevalent after the age of 30 with these types. Also, people with this iris constitution tend to be deficient in vitamin B, vitamin E and chromium.

Mixed Biliary
I may be biased because this is my constitution, but mixed biliaries are my favorite to read. They always have something interesting going on and they also take on the characteristics of the lymphatic blue and the hematogenic brown so you never know what you’ll get. It also will depend on the person’s eyes, if they tend to go more brown they will be more hematogenic and if they are more blue with a central heterochromia (color around the pupil) they can skew more lymphatic.

In childhood these types have a lot of gastrointestinal weakness, which I can certainly attest to. Children can present with gas, constipation, and stomach tension, often in reaction to emotional stress.

For adults, gastrointestinal issues are also top of mind for these types as adults, especially in reaction to lifestyle, diet and stress. They may have IBS symptoms that oscillate between constipation and diarrhea and a variable bowel transit time - this also is connected to the nervous system, specifically the vagus nerve. They struggle with difficulties breaking down certain foods, which can put stress upon the liver and other elimination organs. This can fire an immune response, which can cause these types to have all kinds of allergies and inflammatory issues. They also have issues with detoxing and metabolizing fat. They do well to not eat when emotional or in a state of extreme stress/excitement.

Personality wise, this type experiences the nature of both the lymphatic blue and the hematogenic brown eye types, which can cause a lot of confusion for them and their personal identities. People with this type can tend to alter their opinions often and have a difficult time making a choice. In relationships they are attracted to both lymphatic and hematogenic types.

Support + Final Words
The best thing about iridology in my opinion, is that you get to learn about yourself and how to support your body. The more we personalize our health and wellness support to ourselves, the better that we feel and can care for our individual wellbeing.  If you are looking for a personal reading to have the fibers, structure, markings all analyzed you can purchase a reading here. When I do a reading for someone I always make recommendations based on what I find from the lens of not only an iridologist, but also as a clinical nutritionist.

Lymphatic blue irises are all about that lymph flow!! I have a class entirely for lymph flow called “Go with the FLOW” which you can check out here. It teaches you how to flow your own lymph at home and also dietary support for detox, which is huge for these iris types.

Hematogenic Brown and Mixed Biliary is all about the nervous system and the gut. If you need support regarding stress or the nervous system, I have a great workshop here that is perfect to support you!

You cannot change the color of your eyes, no matter what anyone says. BUT you can change how they appear. Stay with me – if you have seen someone say that green eyes turned blue - what has happened here is yellow in the iris (usually related to liver) can become clearer with detox and then the iris can appear more blue. Any markings, however, cannot be changed and many we are born with. If we use our eyes as a map to our bodies we can learn so much about our health - I hope you will stay tuned for more posts to go deeper into this incredible study of the iris!

Iridology Reading
$155.00

**This is a recorded reading, meaning that I will do your reading, record it and send it to you within 10-14 Business Days (sometimes faster depending on my schedule!) following when you send your iris pictures NOT when you book. I will contact you following your payment with directions on how to take and send me your iris images.

Iridology is the study and analysis of the iris. Through looking at the colors, markings and attributes of the iris, iridologists (like myself) can map out susceptibility to health conditions, ancestral health concerns and even personality traits. Iridology is not meant to be diagnostic and I would liken it to having a human design or astrology reading as that it can teach you things about yourself and why you are the way that you. Since everyone is different not ALL points will resonate, however, I have found that every time I have read someone, they have found the reading eerily accurate. It is truly a fun and interesting way to dig deeper and learn more about yourself!

Each reading comes with recommendations (nutrition, supplements, lifestyle) for the various findings!
